07.06.2004. An African wild dog (Lycaon pictus), done in Prismacolor colored pencils. I think African wild dogs, also known as Cape hunting dogs, are among the most beautiful of all the wild canids. I originally drew this as a part of a series I was intending to do with wild dogs, similar to the wild cat portraits I had done earlier. Eventually I plan on drawing more of the wild dogs. Even though this is older, and there are several things anatomically wrong with the picture, I like the way the markings look.
